So, being an adult means working. I get that. But it doesn't mean I always have to enjoy it. Especially when i'm not yet at my big girl job. However, that doesn't mean I won't give my all or that I'm going to skip work just because I'm not where i want to be yet. And so, with that, I tell you that I was scheduled to work yesterday in the continued cold. And I went.
However, not everyone else did. We had around 35 call-offs for the day. I know that I had a good deal of customers telling me that their batteries died or took an extra-long time to start, so that may have played a part. Who knows. All I know is that my car worked so I bared the cold and clocked in.
The thing I'm grateful for is that my managers showed their appreciation for those of us who made the trek. (there were many businesses in the city shut down and police/doctors were advising to stay indoors unless necessary to go out. Once again, it was around -4 degrees most of the day with an even worse wind chill.) One of the managers had called Domino's in the morning and had them delivering pizza to us all day long. It's a small gesture, but it was nice to know that they were appreciative of the fact that we still came in.
