To me, there's different levels of being in charge. There's someone who carreis the title and feel that it makes them superior, or ther's the kind who have the title, but look to see what they can do for others to make a better functioning machine. This post is about the second.
Yesterday was cold. And by cold I mean absolutely FREEZING. Temperatures were at a lovely -5 but with wind chill was close to -30. This particular CSM didn't come in until 5:30pm. During my shift I had a 4 hour period of standing next to the doors. By the time I went to my lunch my hands were beat red and numb to the point they were trying to curl themselves inward. And our poor stockmen had it worse by having to bundle up to get carts.
Well this supervisor came in and put an end to all of that. She shut down the registers nearest the doors and called for all the stockmen to come inside. Is it something she had to do? Not int the least, but she took in upon herself to show compassion by not making others freeze for no reason.
So, I'm grateful for her. I'm grateful that she was there to look out for others and not just herself.
